Rich in history, nestled in nature and close to culture, Newhaven is an industrial coastal town with huge potential.

Since 2019 we have been working alongside local thinkers, makers and movers to develop a step-by-step plan for Newhaven Town Centre and High Street. We have mapped the opportunities and constraints in the town centre to create a micro-plan. The plan identifies underused sites to be repurposed as new places to live, work and play. Throughout the project, we facilitated interactive workshops with key members of local stakeholder and business groups to draw on their knowledge of what makes Newhaven unique and how we might help celebrate these qualities in the future vision. The resulting strategic plan will help increase footfall, enhance the pedestrian environment and promote an evening economy, enhancing the branding and public perception of the town.

As the financial climate and Covid pandemic starts to impact how and why people come together, the reimagining and repurposing of town centres like Newhaven is all the more urgent.
