Home From Home was a temporary installation at MUDE, a cultural and design centre in Lisbon, Portugal.  Our winning proposal, submitted as a result of a collaboration with the British Council and The Architecture Foundation, saw five ‘elements’ of the home scattered throughout the museum enabling people to engage with and learn more about typical notions of British domesticity.

As a starting point, we took an imagined child-like image of a house and extruded it by ten metres, before slicing it into five pieces. Each piece had its own character and story and could either fit together with its counterparts or act as a free standing sculptural object in its own right.

The installation encouraged those visiting the centre to play and engage with the exhibit whilst also learning more about the typical elements of a British home and exploring the question ‘what makes a home?’
