← Fire Place
A diverse and vibrant city like London never sleeps yet most of our public buildings close in the early evening. Our Fire Stations stay open 24 hours, always on call to deal with unexpected emergencies from fires and road collisions to storm damage and terrorist attacks.
Distributed throughout our city, Fire Stations are strategically located with the ability to serve a wide surrounding area. They are also on large plots of public land that could be better utilised to accommodate growth. Although not currently accessible to the public we see these sites as a possible new model for a community centre that never closes.
Fire Places could be created in neighbourhoods throughout London to provide social infrastructure that is tailored to a particular area, and recognising the changes in the way we live and work.
The new facilities would allow the Fire Brigade to extend their outreach programmes by providing training and employment opportunities to members of that community. Our aim is to improve the way the Fire Brigade provide their public service by placing them at the centre of our community, celebrating their vital civic role and giving a new face to an organisation that keeps us and our city safe 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
