One thing that I love about architecture is its unique ability to transform a place by creating spatial opportunities supporting local communities. Each new project represents a chance to make a positive impact on people and their living environment. A building can change a community by simply providing a space allowing individuals to grow by doing the things they love, providing the chance to meet other people with similar interests resulting in collaboration and exchange which otherwise would not have had happened.
Hackney Bridge is a project that, for me, represents just that. Sitting on a once empty site, within a community with a unique and exciting potential of creatives and young businesses who need space to develop their ideas and ambitions. It provides not only a space to incubate, test and exchange ideas but also visibility as it became a destination for visitors.
